Forests are Burning, We Cannot Stay Silent

For the past week, the smoke rising from many parts of Turkey has not only darkened the sky but also our hearts.

Hatay, Manisa, Izmir, Çeşme… Thousands of acres of forest have turned to ash. Birds, insects, trees, and countless living beings have vanished, never to return.

Ormanlar Yanıyor, Sessiz Kalamayız

For the past week, the smoke rising from many parts of Turkey has not only darkened the sky but also our hearts.

Hatay, Manisa, Izmir, Çeşme... Thousands of acres of forest have turned to ash. Birds, insects, trees, and countless other living beings have been annihilated, never to return.

As Ham Fabrics, we conduct our production on nature-friendly and sustainable foundations. However, nature is not just a source of inspiration; it is our home, where we live and breathe together.

And now, instead of just feeling sad about these fires, we must act to prevent them.

🔥 Why Do Forest Fires Occur?

More than 90% of fires are human-caused. Each one is preventable.

Here are the most common reasons:

  • 🚬 Unextinguished cigarette butts

  • 🔥 Open fires lit during picnics

  • ⚡ Sparks from electrical wires

  • 🚜 Stubble burning during field clearing

  • 🗑️ Magnifying effect of glass bottles and trash

  • 🧠 Thoughtlessness, negligence, and the "it won't happen to me" mentality

Nature is burning due to our negligence.

🌱 What Can We Do?

It is in our hands to change this situation. Individual measures should not be underestimated.

  • Never light a fire in forested areas.

  • Do not throw your cigarette butts into the trash without extinguishing them in a container with water.

  • Do not leave broken glass, bottles, or trash in nature.

  • Do not park your vehicles on dry grass.

  • If you see a fire, call the Forest Fire Notification Line at ALO 177.

  • Be careful about misinformation on social media. Share only official and reliable sources.

  • Volunteer, contribute. Support afforestation and solidarity activities carried out by NGOs, municipalities, or local communities.

💚 We Cannot Turn Our Back on Nature

A sustainable life is not just about recycling and using natural fabrics. The main issue is to protect the world we live in with all living beings.

If we love to sit in the shade of a tree, it is our responsibility to prevent that tree from burning.

As Ham Fabrics, while striving to remain nature-friendly in our production, we cannot remain indifferent to these disasters.

Let's not leave the forests, which are reborn every season, in a silence from which they can never awaken.

This summer, let's leave behind not only our footprints but also our awareness.
