Botanical Dyeing

Ham Fabrics’ Natural Color Journey

Vegetable dyeing is a very old tradition. For centuries,
clothes were colored with plants provided by nature. At Ham Fabrics,
we continue the same method, coloring entirely with plant-based sources, without using chemical dyes.

We use botanical waste and materials such as avocado pits, onion skins, walnut shells, woad, madder, and oregano to achieve natural dyeing in our colored products.

We boil our fabrics in their raw state according to the desired shade, then carefully complete the dyeing and drying process.

Due to our natural dyeing method, each product carries its own character. Factors such as the intensity and season of the plants, water temperature, and fabric texture can create slight tonal differences in color. These small variations transform each piece into a unique and unrepeatable special product.

Selin Çalışkan Ergenç is a designer and creative director with many years of experience in the textile and fashion industry. A graduate of Gazi University's Textile Department, Selin has worked on TV series, commercials, and music video projects throughout her career, and has styled photoshoots for fashion brands. In 2016, she founded her eponymous bohemian wedding dress brand, producing custom-made designs for eight years.

Since 2019, she has focused on sustainable fashion practices, concentrating on botanical dyeing, eco-printing, and natural materials. As a natural outcome of this approach, she launched Ham Fabrics, a chemical-free, ethical, and timeless slow fashion brand.

Design and gastronomy meet at @thisisnot.a.popup, as the evening market is set up once again. Creative brands, independent producers, and good food come together at the stalls, opening from 6:00 PM onwards.

I bought Laura's long-sleeved linen blouse and I'm really pleased with it. The linen fabric is both breathable and looks great on me. It has a simple yet powerful design; I can easily wear it for both daily outfits and more dressed-up looks. It's become a timeless piece that will stay in my wardrobe for many years.

Başka ülkelerin plastik atıklarının Türkiye’ye gönderilmesi, bunların burada nasıl işlendiği ve sonrasında doğaya ne olduğu zaten başlı başına üzerinde durulması gereken bir konu.
